XBC’s Coaching Model

XBC brings our trademark in-depth approach to the executive coaching process.

Each XBC account is assigned from the outset a client services director who manages the process and serves as a liaison between XBC coaches and the client company. XBC coaches are required to submit a confidential report each week to the client services director detailing the agenda for sessions, notes on the ensuing sessions, accomplishments, and actions taken. The client services director attends update meetings and meets monthly with the coaching team to track progress.

The XBC Executive Coaching Process includes:

Assessing the Talent:
We assess the participant about to enter into a coaching relationship to identify his or her level of self-awareness and to identify growth areas. A development plan is created from this process and used as a guide throughout the coaching.

Matching the Executive Coach to the Leader/Executive/Manager:
We often make recommendations as to the best coach for the individual entering into the executive coaching program. We also may request that he or she interview several XBC executive coaches to ensure the best match.

Goal Setting:
Coaching goals are established between the participant and his or her boss, at the outset of any coaching engagement. XBC coaches complete reports every 30 days to communicate progress to the organization, highlighting accomplishments and areas that require continued focus.

Confidentiality is an important element of the coaching engagement. The participant and coach must develop a relationship of mutual trust. All XBC agreements remain confidential. This is made clear to the participant at the beginning of the coaching engagement.

The participant and his or her supervisor establish goals at the outset of a coaching engagement. Every 30 days, both meet with the client services director and often the company’s human resources generalist. Accomplishments are reviewed with the participant before the review with his or her supervisor.

Before the first coaching session, the participant is asked to complete an intake form. He or she will also be asked to complete an XC InSight Development assessment. The XBC coach works with the participant in the first two weeks of an engagement to create a development plan. The plan will be reviewed with the participant’s boss and the HR professional in a scheduled conference call.

At the end of the coaching engagement, accomplishments are reviewed and documented with the participant, as are areas needing continued development. Every 30 days the participant will also complete an evaluation of the coaching.

Implementation:

  • Metrics for any organization that we work with are established before coaching begins. We review the overall strategy of the coaching program and establish the formula for calculating return on their investment. We often work with the organization to establish a strategy and clear goals for the coaching program.
  • A conference call is scheduled with the participant’s boss and the HR partner to discuss the reasons for the coaching engagement.
  • HR partner communicates to the participant that he or she will be contacted by XBC coaches to schedule an interview.
  • Coaching goals are determined before the coaching sessions begin.
  • The participant completes an online development assessment.
